Solution Architect

I design web applications and IT systems that still make sense a year later. Most of the work turns out to be integration, and most of the judgement is picking the architecture the business needs over the one that’s in fashion.

Cloud Expert

I’ve been in one cloud console or another for the last seven years. Mostly Google Cloud, enough AWS and Azure to have opinions about all three. The interesting part is rarely the technology — it’s talking someone out of the expensive version.

Software Engineer

Frontend and backend, though the part I actually care about is the architecture underneath. JavaScript, PHP, Java, .NET and Rust — I reach for whichever one the problem is asking for, which is not always the one I’d enjoy most.

DevOps & SRE

CKAD and Terraform certified, mostly in Kubernetes and serverless. I keep infrastructure in code because I’d rather read a diff than try to remember what I clicked, and I build the kind of pipeline people trust enough to actually use.

IT Consultant

Interviews, workshops, code reviews. Usually I get called in because a team already knows what’s wrong and needs someone from outside to say it out loud.

Speaker

I like the talks where someone admits what went wrong. So those are the ones I give. Two so far, both at CodeCon: one on the internal developer platform we built, one on triathlon and software, which have more in common than you’d think.
